One of the best scholarships that a woman can apply for is the federal Pell Grant. If you don’t already know, a Pell Grant is a direct money award given to students through participating educational institutions. If you want to qualify for a Pell Grant then you need to do the following:
- Must Prove You Are In Need Of Financial Aid
- Must NOT Have First Received Your Bachelor Degree
The reason that the Pell Grant was created was to promote access to secondary education for low income citizens. Make sure before you apply for a Pell Grant that you verify the school you are planning on attending. In order to recieve a Pell Grant from this school it must be a part of the Federal Pell Grant program. With this in mind, you cannot receive a Pell Grant from more than one school at once.
So, this raises an interesting question, how much does a Pell Grant Award? This depends on a number of factors including: the students financial needs, the students family contributions, the cost of school attendance and whether the student is attending college on a full time basis or a part time basis.
In order to properly apply for the Pell Grant you have to sign up for FAFSA. If you don’t already know, FAFSA is easy to sign up for. All you have to do is visit their site and fill out their free application. After you have completed this step you will receive something called a SAR (Student Aid Report) or the school that you plan on attending will receive a ISIR (Institutional Student Information Report). The school that received the ISIR will then notify the student if he/she is eligible to receive a Pell Grant.
